The author’s purpose was to explore from the human perspective the mystery of this gift of God, a gift that we know as love. The problem for many of us, is that we have a hard time separating pure love from the vulgarity of pornography. This book helps us to see the beauty in love between a man and a woman. The language which they use towards each other is so uplifting.
This is what marriage should look like, this is the perfect example of true, passionate love.
It is easy when you are first married, when love is fresh and new, to remember to say kind words to your spouse, to build them up, to encourage them, to share words and most importantly, acts of love with them. Then the years start to pile up and life gets busy with jobs and children and outside influences and you begin to take your spouse for granted, you forget what that love even felt like. That is why as husband and wife, we need to reflect on this passage of scripture to remind us that our spouses should be second on our list of importance, right behind God, even before our children and work and parents and all our other responsibilities. I would hope that today, if you are married, that you will share with your spouse how much you still love them, how much you appreciate them.
