Psalm 119:1-88

Tuesday

How important is reading God’s word? Just read this Psalm and you will begin to see the importance of learning and remembering God’s Word.

This Psalm is the longest chapter in the entire bible, consisting of 176 verses. It is also in the center of the Bible. Your bible may also have headings at the top of each section, these are the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. So this psalm was most likely used as a repetitive meditation on the importance of God’s Word. Verse 11 is one of my favorite verses in all of scripture as it points to the significance of learning God’s Word, knowing what it says and seeking to live it out in every part of our lives. “I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

If we know God’s word in our heart, then we should never be confused as to what is right and what is wrong. Keeping God’s word in our heart, helps us to fight off sin in our lives. Hiding God’s word in my heart shows how important God is in my life.

Your commitment to reading His Word, shows that you too love God. When we are in His Word we are close to Him.
