Matthew 8:14-34, Mark 4-5

Sunday

Jesus touched her hand and she was healed.

He cast out demons with a simple command. He woke up from his sleep to tell the wind to stop blowing. How many problems do we try to deal with that end up getting so complicated when Jesus (The God of the Universe) can deal with them, with such ease. A touch, a simple command, a word spoken. How privileged we are to have Jesus on our side. To take the complicated, the complex, the difficult and make it so simple. In our reading we also see the cost of following Jesus seems high, but is it really? We just need to weigh the benefits verses the inconvenience and see that it, too, is a simple choice.

In the Mark reading, Jesus is once again teaching using parables. He tells us why He uses parables. In order for His followers to understand they have to be connected to Him. It is why it is important for us when we are studying God’s Word to ask the Holy Spirit to give us insight into our reading. If you don’t understand what the scripture is trying to tell you, give it time, and at some point in your life, it will make complete sense and even speak specifically to a situation you are currently involved with.
