Exodus 39 – 40

February 12, 2016 (Friday)

You may have noticed in our reading the details to making the priestly garments and how each item is brought before Moses and inspected by him, to make sure that it was done as commanded. He does this inspection before he blesses it. Moses then personally sets up and places each item. Eight times we read that Moses does everything exactly as God has commanded. I had never really noticed before the attention to doing it right. I just always thought that if I did something for God, then that’s good. But if I just try to get by, am I missing out? What I mean is, if we are working for the Lord, shouldn’t we be giving it our best? And not our leftovers? Even with our time and our abilities? Shouldn’t we strive to do the best in whatever we have been gifted to do? Now I don’t think this mean perfection, I think it means that God just wants us to do our best at whatever level we have the gifts and means to do.
