2 Samuel 7, 1 Chronicles 17

Sunday

Happy Mother’s day to all you moms out there. I have been so blessed in my life by having two wonderful daughters and 4 amazing grandchildren. (Two of whom are graduating this year…. Wow, when did that happen.) But enough about me, what happened in today’s reading?

David starts to imagine what it would take to build a Temple. He’s thinking ‘I’m living in a great palace while God remain in a tent.” Seems like a pretty responsible undertaking for the King of Israel to do. But God has other plans. He doesn’t want David to build his temple. We learn in 1 Chronicles 28:3 why this is so. David is a warrior and has shed blood and so God told David that He has a different plan in mind for him. David is to have his lineage sit forever on the throne. This is accomplished through Jesus Christ and descendent of David.

Often we think that we should do something worthy of God, but unless God tells us this is what we are to do, then we should not do it, no matter how good it seems to us and the rest of the world. Today, in our message at church, I talked about God-sized dreams and how in our dreams and prayers we often limit God, but we also need to make sure that they are dreams from God, otherwise, it is heresy and we are actually going against God.

I don’t know what God may have placed in your heart to accomplish for Him, but I hope that whatever it might be, that you are taking the time to listen and do what He wants. And remember, don’t limit what God can do to your abilities. God doesn’t need our ability, just our availability.

Blessings on this day!

Pastor Kathy
