Ok, some harsh stuff is going on here. I don’t like the idea of casting out someone because they happen to be contagious, but the reality of the situation is, something like leprosy left unchecked, could bring harm to the whole community.

One thing that really stood out for me in today’s reading was how many times God reminds us that He is God Alone. We must never look to any other God. That is why it is so important for us to not try to meld all the gods of this world into saying we are all worshipping the same god. Read more…

The Day of Atonement. We read today about how God has made provisions for His people to atone for their sins. (Atoning in case you are wondering – is about making amends for – saying you’re sorry). So God provides a way out. The priest was to present two goats before the Tent of Meeting and by casting lots,

In our reading for today, we learn a lot about how to take care of the person with a skin disease. Some skin diseases were temporary and the person after a week or so could be pronounced “clean” and allowed to enter back into the community and worship. Read more…

Do you remember your mom (or maybe Grandmother) ever saying… cleanliness is next to godliness? It seems like we like to be clean. We just had a “kitchen inspection” here at the church and those things are all about cleanliness and providing sanitary conditions. Doctors and nurses learned decades
