Judges 16 – 18

(Tuesday)

This whole story of Samson and Delilah has always baffled me. How could Samson be so ignorant? I mean really? She wants to know the secret of his strength because she has been bribed by the rulers of her country. Why, Samson, would you ever tell Delilah the secret to your strength?

Judges 10 – 12

(Sunday)

I just have to reflect briefly on 10:1-5. Here are two judges of Israel their whole lives are summed up in five verses of scripture. Not very noteworthy information. On the one hand their names will be remembered and they didn’t do anything bad, but what did they do with their lives?

Judges 8 – 9

(Saturday)

Gideon still seems to me like an unlikely hero. He starts off afraid and hiding, looking for affirmation from God that he is doing the right things. Then with God controlling his actions, he begins to respond to a healthy balance between praising God and looking to God for guidance while at the same time, realizing that he is the leader God has called him to be.

Judges 6 – 7

Blessings

Judges 1 – 2

(Tuesday)

Well, today, we begin another book of the Old Testament. This is Israel’s story of the Judges which span over 325 years. There were twelve in all, men and women. Heroes. Leaders who rescued Israel during hard times. Heroes that were far from perfect. But all of them willing to be used by God.

Joshua 22 – 24

(Monday)

Three (well actually two and a half) of the tribes of Israel are now ready to claim the land they wanted on the east side of the Jordan. You may remember they thought this land was suitable for their needs, but first they had to help the rest of the Israelites conquer the Promise Land.

(Easter Sunday)

Happy Easter, I hope your day is filled with many blessings! He is Risen, Christ is Risen indeed!

So I thought yesterday’s reading with all those names was difficult, well, what about today! More towns, more allotments… more places. But guess what, there are some great things happening here today.
