Well, it looks like our group has moved around a lot. They moved something like 33 times before the 40 years were up. The time when Aaron died, the time when God promised them they could go into the Promised Land. That means that on average they moved about every year and a couple of months. That’s a lot of moving if you ask me.
I like though how the Bible said they went out in boldness before the Egyptians. I wonder if they felt that same way all through their travels – well, actually I know they didn’t. The Bible tells us that many times they complained and wanted to go back, they looked away from God and started following idols.
I wonder how often we start out doing something in “boldness” and then find our courage wavering along the way, or getting distracted by the “idols” in our lives? It is hard to stay strong all the time (I know), but then we have to remember that we are not on our own along the way. God goes before us, behind us and beside us, we just need to rest in his strength.
