Numbers 16 & 17

(Tuesday)

Trouble in camp. Moses authority is challenged again. I cannot even begin to imagine the difficulties Moses faced every day from these self-centered, rebellious people. They certainly get put in their place. (Literally, they are swallowed up in the ground.)

What bothers me though is their whole family, even the small children are swallowed up. Can you see how our actions affect those around us, especially those closest to us? We have to ask ourselves if our actions are hurting the people around us?

Once again, God proves to the people that Moses is his man and Aaron is His chosen priest.

As the whole assembly once again grumbles at Moses and Aaron, Moses sends Aaron to make an atonement offering so save them. Aaron stood between the living and the dead and the plague was stopped. His actions are intercessory. We are often called upon as intercessors. As a community of believers, we must be willing to lift one another up in prayer, we also must be willing to serve one another, even if there are difficulties between people. The people that Aaron saved are the same people that were grumbling about him. Jesus tells us to pray for our enemies. (Matt 5:44).

It is easy for us to pray for and intercede for those we love and care about, but what about those who try to hurt you?

My hope for today is that even when someone does something against us to harm us, we will still find it in our hearts to pray for that person.

Blessings on the day
