Lamentations 3:37-5:22

Saturday

There are many times in our lives when we experience grief.

Grief over the loss of someone close, pain over the loss of possessions or a job (which is such a significant part of our identity), suffering over the loss of health. Grief can take on many faces. During these times we, like the Israelites, I am sure have felt the same struggles for faith and hope, for answers to the question, why.
I don’t know about you but I can feel their pain even over these many years, maybe it’s because I’ve felt pain in my life and can relate, maybe it’s because I’m afraid I’ll experience something like this in my life. What comes to my mind is the urgency of growing closer to God, of experiencing a relationship with the Holy Spirit that fills my heart with love and living a life that mirrors the life of Jesus and is pleasing to Him.
I know that hardships will come; famine, disease, war, destruction and death. But I pray that we will be able to find God in the center of our lives to see us through any hardship that might come our way. And in the times when life is good and we are feeling so very blessed, that we won’t forget God and remember to hold on to Him even then.

Praising God
