John 5

Sunday

It seems as if Jesus is always having to defend His authority.

The very people who have been waiting for the Messiah, are so blind to what is before them. They don’t want to know the truth, and so they look for ways to discredit Jesus. “He heals on the Sabbath.” “He puts himself on an equal with God the Father.” Just like yesterday, the truth is in His actions. You’ve heard the old saying, actions speak louder than words. Well, it is true, Jesus’ actions prove that He has the authority to do and say the things He does.

How loud are your actions? If you are a Christian, do you follow up your statement of faith, with words and actions that tell the world you are a Christ-follower? Do you behave in such a way that sets you apart from the rest of the world? Christians are called to be a holy people, set apart…. Are our actions helping or hurting our cause?

Now don’t get me wrong, we are not perfect, we are only striving towards that goal, we do make mistakes, we fall down, we say the wrong things, but we are also a forgiven people. The goal is to change our behavior, to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us, because on our own, we could never be “holy”. Let’s just keep looking to Jesus, who is our example, and seek to follow Him and not the world. “Pick up our mats and get moving.”

Shalom
