Jeremiah 32-34

Buying houses and flipping them has become a national obsession here in the U.S., and everyone knows that property never loses its value….right?   Except maybe when a rogue nation is taking over the country and cancelling all land ownership.    What a crazy time to buy property.

“Buy low, and sell high”.  That’s the goal of everyone who invests in the stock market, or who resells goods.   The trick is knowing when it’s the right time to buy.  In this case, it’s a crazy time to buy, the land won’t belong to any Israelite for many, many years     Of course, the reason Jeremiah purchases it is to relay the message of hope that God is giving to His people.   Without hope the people would despair in captivity, and would surrender themselves to worship other gods.   But God never leaves us without hope.

Maybe your load is difficult, and friends are few.  Maybe no one understands, or cares about you.  Never forget that God cares, and He has a wonderful plan for your life together with Him in eternity.   Life on earth may be hard, and it could end badly, but life in heaven will be rich, fulfilling and enjoyable beyond imagination.    I am sure that if we knew just a small part of what our lives would be like in heaven, we would be willing to endure any suffering to enter there.    And the rewards that heaven possesses for us….wow.  Every trial we have endured on earth will be rewarded in heaven.  Every sacrifice we have made, every carnal impulse we have resisted, every single time we have obeyed God’s Law….every single one will be rewarded.    If you happen to suffer, it isn’t without purpose, or reward.   Perhaps the knowledge of what awaits us in heaven will give you hope, which in turn will give you strength to endure whatever God permits in your life.

33:3 says “call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things that you do not know’    I wonder, why do we have such a hard time practicing this?  I know full well that God wants to share His wisdom with me, and direct my life and my choices…and yet there are times when I will simply “forget to ask” and forge ahead, risking travel in the wrong direction.   It would  be so much better if God just told me what He wanted, and then I could do it….but I forget to ask.

As I write this, several key leaders and myself are in the middle of a period of fasting.  Our fast has one simple, and yet significant goal: For the Lord to reveal to us what He wants us to do in the new ministry year.

So, we are asking.  Lord, I am trusting that this promise that you gave to Jeremiah is true for me today, because you never change.  If you would reveal yourself to him, then you  will reveal yourself to anyone who pleases you, so it’s my goal to be pleasing and acceptable in your sight, so that you will honor me with wisdom and insight to guide and lead your people in the  upcoming months.   There is so much that I don’t know, but I take comfort in the fact that YOU know, because You know everything    Please, Lord, reveal yourself to me so that I may lead wisely.

And Lord, please reveal yourself to whomever may be reading this whose heart is also steadfast on you.  Pour out your Spirit upon them, and cause them to know things that they could not otherwise know or understand.

Thank You Father,  You are worthy of praise and honor, for you have created all things, You guide all activity, nothing happens unless it passes through you first.  You are perpetually good, and always loving, and always fair and just.    Certainly You are worthy of praise

Faithfully,
