Isaiah 49-53

Saturday

Have you ever felt that people who display the “entitlement” flag are totally off the mark? Well, I agree with entitlement, and let me tell you what we are entitled to.

We are entitled to the full wrath of God, of swift and complete punishment, we are entitled to spend eternity in hell. We have broken our faith with God, we have left Him to follow other gods, we have neglected to serve others and by doing so, serve Him. We, like the Israelite nation that had so turned against God, are entitled to whatever God would dish out, but here’s the incredible news, God will for a time punish the Israelite (because He keeps His promises, good and bad) but in the end, He will redeem them and not just the nation of Israel, but all nations. And the actions that He takes will be so “that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.” (49:6b)

The time for suffering is coming upon the Israelites and God through Isaiah is trying to help prepare them. God loves us so much that He will not abandon us, even when we turn against Him. We need only to turn back to Him. No matter what you have done, you may be suffering the consequences of your actions but God is only a prayer away.

Throughout our reading today, we are called to wake up, or listen, or rise up. Right now in our country we are sleeping, we (Christians) are allowing people from within and without our ranks, tell us that what is wrong is right and what we know is right to be wrong. If we don’t wake up – arise from our slumber, we are not far from facing what the Israelites faced in the exile. Don’t let “entitlement mentality” turn you from what you know is the truth. Don’t let “politically correct” philosophy change what the bible says.

Rising up for what it right!
