You’ve got to be kidding me.   I cannot believe how this chapter begins, or how it ends.

So, this guy brings a substantial offering to the Apostles, who then scold him, and he drops over dead.  What?

As I read through these verses a third time, more slowly than at first, I noticed several things that hadn’t seemed important before.

Why in the world would John mention 5 disciples by name and then say “and two others”.  Why not say their names?

How can there be two different endings to the same chapter?   Which one is original?  Who changed it?    It’s nothing quite that nefarious…here’s what happened.
