2 Samuel 5:11-6:23

Wednesday

So David has established his kingdom in Jerusalem. What dangers lie ahead for David?

Have you ever been in a situation where God has blessed you, things are going well in your life and little by little you start to neglect God. You forget where your source of goodness is coming from, you start thinking ā€œIā€™m pretty special.ā€

David has become a very powerful person; other rulers are looking to him to make alliances. The King of Tyre sends gifts of cedar logs and craftsmen to build a palace for David. When people start singing your praises, it is easy for humility to fall by the wayside. David is constantly reminding himself of this. When he needs to make a decision he seeks Gods help. His psalms are filled with reminders to seek God first, give thanks to the Lord for His mercy endures forever.

The same can be true for us, when others start telling us how great we are, it is easy to lose focus on God and start thinking more of ourselves than we ought to. So the remedy for this problems is to constantly remind ourselves of how great God is and how without Him we are nothing.

Blessings,

Pastor Kathy
