Where there exactly 14 generations between each of these three events?
Luke 1, John 1:1-14
Hooray! Today we begin the New Testament. Not that the Old Testament wasn’t good, it was…but this marks a milestone for us. Let’s dig in.
Malachi 1-4
I am happy to make some comments on Malachi today for two reasons: First, Malachi has some profound things to say, and secondly, today marks the end of the Old Testament Reading. Hooray! We are heading into the New Testament tomorrow!
Nehemiah 8-10
For a minute there I forgot I was reading Nehemiah…this is all about Ezra! Which brings up an interesting point…
Ezra 7-10
Although the book of Ezra bears his name, he doesn’t make an appearance in Jerusalem until much later. I hadn’t thought about it, but he probably was in Babylon (Susa) when Esther was made Queen.
Esther 1-5
One of the things I learn from reading the Bible chronologically is that even though the Jews had returned to Israel, there were still plenty of them left in Babylon. They apparently didn’t all leave. Which makes me wonder…how many Iranians or Iraqis today could have a jewish ancestor? Wouldn’t that be ironic, considering how much they fight amongst each other?
