Pastor Kathy

What is your favorite TV program?
Person of Interest, although Duck Dynasty is growing on me

If you could only have one hobby, what would it be?

Crocheting…its safe (unlike skiing – I don’t have to worry about hurting myself or having snowboards knock me over) and the best part of all I love being able to take a string of yarn and make something useful out of it.

Lasagna (also, let us not forget chocolate as I feel that is a main food group)

Use 4 or 5 adjectives to describe yourself:
Caring and compassionate, good listener, maybe a little ocd (ok maybe a lot ocd), faithful

What would those closest to you say is the area you need to work on the most?
Staying focused, taking more risks

What type of ministry are you most comfortable doing?
Caring, listening, teaching

Do you have a favorite bible verse?
It has been – for as long as I can remember, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Phil 4:13. I also absolutely love, Psalm 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Powerful message there.

Background Narrative:
I have been married to Brad for more years than I will say cause then you could figure out how old I am, I have two daughters Jennifer and Heather who are happily married (one for 11 years and the other for 16) They in turn have blessed me with four amazing grandchildren, Gavin, Raven, Kristyn and Tyler.

How you came to minister here:
I really don’t know, except that God’s hand was in it, and I found myself being called to a place and a ministry that is so very exciting and gives me personally the opportunity to grow spiritually.

Education and life experience:
I was a stay-at-home mom for 16 years while my daughters grew up and I was able to spend many hours volunteering at my church as Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, committee member and chairperson of different committees. I then became the Church Secretary. When I moved to Indiana I worked as a church secretary and attended the University of Saint Francis and then later IPFW in Fort Wayne, where I majored in counseling. While I was there I answered God’s call into ministry and I started taking seminary classes at AMBS in Elkhart. After a year there and some red tape difficulties, I began taking classes through the Methodist Church at the University of Indianapolis. I served as a part-time local pastor in a rural Methodist Church serving a congregation of about 60 members, while working full-time as the office administrator at a large UM Church in Fort Wayne. But my most profound life experience is being married to Brad – need I say more.
